How long will my appointment take?

We advise you keep at least 2-3 Hours aside for your visit. It may not take this long but it will depend on what tests you require, how long your eyes take to dilate, and if you require any in room treatment on the day.

At times we may run behind due to urgent cases or unforeseen circumstances. We will do our very best to communicate this with you at your visit and if possible, try and give you notice in advance.

What to expect from my first visit?

During your visit, you will be welcomed by our friendly reception team followed by pre-assessment test by one of our clinical orthoptists.

Our orthoptists will do all the necessary pre-assessments and tests, noting medical history, checking vision and perform ant tests necessary to do thorough eye health check as required by the ophthalmologist. You may also be given eye drops that dilate your pupils which will blur your vision. It is advised that you rest for approximately 2 hours to allow your vision to return to normal. We suggest you avoid driving during this time so you will need to organise transport home from your appointment.

Sunglasses and a hat will help with glare and light sensitivity caused by the dilating drops.

Our ophthalmologists will perform the eye health check and examine your eyes, assess the tests you completed with orthoptist and give you advice about the health of your eyes and if needed, what treatment you require.
