Vision Correction: Know Your Options
Having clear functional vision without the need for visual hardware is possible.
Marketing terminologies can be confusing and more so which to choose can quickly becomes a minefield of confusion.
To simplify, the choice falls under two main umbrellas – Corneal Treatments and Lens Procedures
Though there are different types of Corneal based laser vision correction procedures, the premise is the same – to improve vision by reshaping the cornea through the use of laser in order to reduce dependency or in some cases altogether remove the need for glasses or contact lenses.
Changing the shape of the cornea via laser changes its ability to “focus” images on to the retina hence changing the clarity of your vision without visual hardware.
Vision can also be corrected by insertion of a man-made Lens using Intra Ocular Lenses (IOL) or (ICL) Implantable Collimer/Contact Lenses. Replacing the lens inside the eye via Refractive Lensectomy or Clear Lens Exchange can reduce dependency on visual hardware, as does inserting a Phakic IOL or ICL.
At Hunter Street Eye Specialists, we understand that it’s not a one size fits all solution and hence customise each treatment to individual needs. The decision as to which procedure is the best suited to you requires a full eye health review and thorough discussion with the eye specialist regarding the pros and cons of each procedure.
